Třinec

In this webcam, you can see one of the residential districts of the Czech city of Tršinec, located by the Olza River (Olše), in the Moravian-Silesian Region, near Poland.

Třinec, where live broadcast is conducted from, is the main center of the Czech metallurgical industry. The industrial image of the city in this online camera is combined with picturesque valleys and mountains (popular routes for hikers, cyclists and skiers), which also fall into the lens of a webcam.

For the first time, Třinec, whose panorama you see in a live camera, was mentioned in 1444. At that time, most of the city’s population was engaged in agriculture, despite the fact the region was rich in limestone, iron ore and clay. The turning point for Třinec in webcam, came after the metallurgical plant opening in 1839. Later, with the fast city development, schools, medical institutions and many other important facilities began to open their doors, making workers and their families’ life easier.

In 1920 during the divide of the Cieszyn Silesia region (Těšín Silesia), the settlement where this webcam is located was included in Czechoslovakia, and in 1931 it was awarded the status of a city.

During World War II, Třinec, well shown online, was part of Poland, but after the end of the war was returned to the Czechoslovak Republic.

Among the sights of Třinec you see in live stream, special attention should be paid to the Metallurgical Museum, founded in 1969, with an exposition telling the history of the Třinec Metallurgical Combine and the city.

From the religious symbols Třinec, which area you see in a webcam, it is worth to see Church of St. Albert from 1885. It is a red brick building with a high tower in the neo-Gothic style. Including the priest’s house, the bell ringer house and technical buildings, the church creates an original complex, which is protected by the state as an important cultural monument since 2010.

Another important attraction of the city of Třinec, where the live stream is conducted from, is the Neo-Gothic evangelical church, built in 1899. Above its façade there is a bell tower with a clock.

One more key religious construction of the city in this online camera is the Church “Body of Christ” from 1563, completely burned out in 2017. The interior of the church was decorated with samples of folk Renaissance painting, paintings and carvings. Currently, there is a fundraising for the restoration of a valuable historical monument.
