View from Oru Hotel

Tallinn , Estonia

Without a doubt, this is one of the most popular hotels in the capital of Estonia - Tallinn. The relatively small hotel has found its home right next to the well known Kadriorg park, which is a famous historical and recreational park and, along with the Tammsaare park, is the largest park not only in the city, but in the whole country.

The beach of the Gulf of Finland, which is only 300 metres away from here, is another fact that makes this hotel such a special place. When taking a stroll through the park, it is nearly impossible to miss visiting the coastline, as both the park and the sea provide the perfect means for relaxation.

Apart from the great recreational value, the Kardiorg park is a prominent historical landmark. Essentially, the park was a territory of the Baroque castle Kardiorg that was built is a residence of Russian emperor Peter of the Great. Upon the series of victories that started from conquering Narva, his majesty has conquered Tallinn (which was called Ravel at the time) and bought a picturesque yet modest territory for his wife Catherin. Soon, he initiated the construction of the Castle. Since then, the castle, built in Baroque style, along with flower garden, a swan lake and two fountains have become a must-see place for any tourist, as well as providing the top priority function for the state - it has been the residence of the president of Estonia and is now an Art Museum.

The park is also situated right next to the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds - a huge area of land that holds the most massive and spectacular expression of Estonian folklore - the Estonian Song Festival. Every 5 years, more than one hundred thousand people gather on that field to either sing in a choir or to attend what is often called the largest amateur choral event in the whole world and is also registered as the Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Apart from the song festival that has been held here for more than 100 years, huge music concerts of world famous artists such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day and Elton John have performed here as well, as it is the biggest area for holding musical events in all of the Baltic states.

As if it wasn't enough, the place is also home to other numerous events, including charitable. For example, the annual Duck Race - a race of cute little rubber duckies that is aimed at raising awareness about the children with cancer and their families.

The park and the Grounds only add the benefit to the Oru Hotel's location, as it is only a 10-minute drive away from the Old Town of Tallinn and a few minutes from the Tallinn International Airport. Considering it's location and the variety of events that take place here, this is the perfect place for not only holding different business meetings and conferences but also for having a weekend with family or friends, while visiting some of the most genuinely magnificent events that Estonia has to offer.
