The town of Hyeres with our live camera is the resort town of the Côte d'Azur. The first inhabitants of the city lived here since antiquity. In the 18th century, Hyeres became a resort-city, where came to rest French and Britain kings. In Hyères it is easy to combine beach holidays with sightseeing, visiting historical sites.
From the west, the coast of Hyères is bordered with the Gien peninsula, with the reefs in the south. This place is very popular for scuba diving lovers. Curiously, in Hyères in our webcam people prefer to use bicycles. It is convenient for exploring the beautiful places of the city and its suburbs.
Hyeres is the greenest city on the coast. The number of palm trees growing here is enormous! These beautiful trees not only adorn the city, but also are exported outside France. Gardens planted with palm trees are located in new quarters of the city. You will not find them in the coastal zones.
Hyeres, you see on our online webcam, can be proud of its historical heritage: medieval gate of Porte Massillon, Provencal square, 12th-century Templar watchtower built by the Templar troops. Nowadays a gallery of modern art is open here. The University Church of Saint-Paul and the church of the Saint-Louis monastery of the 13th century are often visited by tourists. Almost destroyed 11th century St. Bernard castle - the center of Hyères in the Middle Ages, will impress the culture fans of that time. The landscape of Olbia in Almanarre with the ruins of the ancient Greek city and the remnants of the buildings of the Romans are must see places.
There are excellent beach areas in Hyeres. Some are located on the Gien Peninsula mentioned before, others on the islands of Porquerolles with our web camera and Levant. The beach with soft clean and white sand on the Gien is perfect for families with children. Gien is a nature reserve with sandy and stony dunes and flamingos living there. The Notre Dame beach on the Porquerolles Island, surrounded by trees with dense foliage, is not crowded enough.
Hyères is considered the southernmost city of the Côte d'Azur. From the cold wind it is closed by mountain massifs, making this place a very favorable climate. Especially for a beach holiday. The summer is warm and never hot because of the sea breeze. Winter is mild. In the middle of February, you can have a rest in a restaurant or cafe on the open terrace.
Weather forecast in Hyeres for 7 days is available on our website online.
