Republic Square

This webcam, is located on the Caffetteria Grand ‘Italia building, and perfectly demonstrates Republic Square (Piazza della Repubblica) in the Italian city of Marsala. On the Republic Square you see online there are the Marsala Cathedral (Duomo di Marsala) and April VII Palace (Palazzo VII Aprile) with large arches and the quadrangular clock tower on the Sanatorium Palace building (Palazzo Sanatorio).

On the left in live broadcast, you can perfectly see the building of the April VII Palace, erected in honor of the first uprising of the locals against the Bourbons. Currently, this building is the seat of the city council and some municipal institutions.

A bit to the right, the online webcam shows an impressive church, typical of the 18th century style (St. Thomas of Canterbury Church). In fact, originally the cathedral was dedicated specifically to Thomas of Canterbury (San Tommaso di Canterbury) and date back to 1176.

In the summer, as can be clearly seen in the online camera, street cafes work in the center of the Republic Square. You can watch online the visitors.

 

Marsala

The Italian city of Marsala, one of the main squares – Republic Square is well viewed in online webcam, is located in the west of the island of Sicily. Marsala is a city with a rich and ancient history. It is especially interesting to visit the Baglio Anselmi Archeological Museum.

From the gastronomic delights of Marsala in the webcam,  is famous for its excellent “Marsala” wine.

The architecture of the city in the live camera, deserves special attention. For example, the famous Republic Square and the Marsala Cathedral (St. Thomas of Canterbury Church) and the April VII Palace, which you see on-line, are located on it.

It is interesting to see the beautiful Church of the Purgatory of the 16th century on Piazza Lombardo and the church of San Giovanni Battista with the tomb of the famous seer Sibyl.

Not far from the Republic Square, shown in  live webcam, there is the museum of Flemish Tapestries with an amazing rare collection of 8 three meter tapestries.

After seeing the museum, come to the “Merkaba” literary cafe nearby.

We advise you to visit the Garibaldi Museum, located in the former monastery complex of San Pietro.

Another interesting place in the city of Marsala, showed in live footage, is the 19th century Eliodoro Sollima theatre.

In the old town of Marsala, which central square is visible in the online webcam, there is only one of the four old gates – Porto Nuovo is preserved. The gate was renovated in the 18th century. From this gate comes the central Marsala XI May Avenue, where is easy to get from Piazza Matteotti.

A modern landmark in Marsala in the web camera, is the Wine Fountain in Pizzo Square, depicting a donkey and a farmer with wine barrel.

Telling about Marsala online, you should definitely mention its beautiful beaches, stretching for 14 km. They are all clean, wide and perfectly suitable for families with children. The strong wind here attracts surfers and kiteboarders.

Outside the city of Marsala, which center you can see well online, there are the former Infersa and Ettore salt mines with unusual landscapes. Specifically to these places in summer pink flamingos arrive here. You can observe bright birds search for food among the salty mountains. Photographers like to come here for amazing pictures.

You can go on a tour to the neighboring Egadi Islands or to Mozia (San Pantaleo) with the ruins of an ancient Greek city.

Climate

The climate in Marsala in webcam, is warm. Winter is mild, summer is hot. The minimum temperature in January – February is about + 8C, the maximum temperature in July-August is about + 30C. Precipitation falls mostly in winter.
