The city of Nida is situated south to Klaipeda, on the Curodian Spit. Curodian Spit is a narrow piece of land 98 km in length, that was formed over 5000 years ago. It is covered in pine forests and beaches. The villages become often covered in shifting sands. The national park “Curodian Spit” was opened in 1991, to protect the dunes, bays and surrounding nature. In 2000, The national park, which includes most of the curodian Spit, was included in the UNESCO fund.

The peculiar red and blue fishing houses in Nida, remain unchanged for centuries. Broken boats can still often be seen in the houses’ gardens.
