Enkhuizen

There is live stream on the city channel of the picturesque town of Enkhuizen in the province of North Holland, West Friesland region. As you can perfectly see in webcam, there are many boats, yachts and catamarans are moored.

The city of Enkhuizen online, got the opportunity to be called the “city” only in 1355. And in the middle of the 17th century, the town you see online entered in the list of the richest and most powerful port cities in the Netherlands.

The miniature Enkhuizen, which part you can watch in a webcam, kept interesting historical buildings, mansions, churches and water channels, one of which is visible online. Besides, the city has a beautiful harbor and well-equipped places for water sports.

The main attractions of Enkhuizen in the webcam, are the 17th century Town Hall (Stadhuis) and the round tower “Drommedaris”. Town Hall is a sample of Dutch classicism. Now it is the municipality here. A round-shaped tower “Drommedaris”, built in 1540, received its modern look in the 17th century. Now it is a popular cultural center.

The most important museum of the city deserves attention too. In the city where  live stream camera is conducting, there is an open-air museum – Zuiderzee Museum, resembling the famous Zaanse Schans (reconstructed fishing village with boats, mills, fish smoking chambers and workshops). Other museums of the city are: Sprookjeswonderland (Fairytale Wonderland), Flessenscheepjesmuseum (Ships-in-a-bottle museum), Enkhuizer Almanak Museum.

The city of Enkhuizen, which you see in the online web camera, as well as in many other cities in Holland, walking on a bicycle is a popular pastime.

In Enkhuizen with live cam, there are many religious buildings. For example, Westerkerk church (Sint Gommaruskerk) is one of the most impressive churches in the Netherlands. Now it is a cultural center here. Another city church worth attention is Zuiderkerk (Sint Pancraskerk) – a late Gothic church built in the 15th century with a 52-bell carillon dating from the 17th century.

Traveling along Enkhuizen, which city channel is well shown by  online camera, take a look at the city library (Librije), located in the Westerkerk church. This is the only surviving 17th century city library in the Netherlands, which contains about 500 historical books, including the incunabula (a book published in Europe from the beginning of printing and until January 1, 1501.)
