The history of Bergen dates back to as early as 900 years ago and has ties with the Viking Age and beyond. Bergen was also the forefront of the prosperous trade between Norway and Europe, owing to the fact, that Bergen was one of the main offices of the Hanseatic League. Bryggen, also known as The Hanseatic Wharf, is one of the most famous remnants of that time, and nowadays is a place for many tourist attractions, shops and cultural events.

Fløyen is a city mountain in Bergen. The view of Bergen Peninsula from its’ the mountain top (Fløyfjellet) makes this mountain one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions. The funicular transport system, which is actively used by both tourists and locals, makes getting to the mountain top comfortable and accessible.
