Market Square in Rzeszow

In this live broadcast you can see one of the central and main squares of the old town of Rzeszow – the Market square with the town hall and the 17th century well.

The current market in the webcam, is slightly different from the original appearance of the 15th century – only three facades are built up with apartment buildings that have undergone renovation over the centuries.

There are hotels, restaurants, clubs, pubs, museums and other institutions. One of the most interesting is apartment building No. 19. The fragments of brick and stone walls and Gothic arches and lintels found in the basement, which can be seen on the Underground Tourist Route, date back to the early 15th and 16th centuries. On summer evenings near the town hall in the webcam you can watch the performances of famous singers, musical vocal groups and dance groups.

Rzeszow, where the online stream is coming from, is the capital of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship. It is located by the Wisłok River, on the natural border between the Sandomierz Basin and the Carpathian lowlands. It is a city with more than 650 years of history.

In the Old Town of Rzeszow, which is shown in the webcam, are concentraded the oldest buildings and historical monuments. Some of them belong to the 15-16th centuries, but mostly there are buildings from the 17-20th centuries. Among them there are bourgeois houses and stone houses, churches, monasteries, a defensive castle, palaces and suburban estates, synagogues, public buildings of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

One of the most striking sights of Rzeszow in this live camera is the Lubomirski Castle of 16-17 centuries. Not far from the citadel, in the gardens, at the end of the 17th century, appeared a summer palace, which has survived to this day.

For walking, the best place in Rzeszow with the online live camera, is 3-go Maja Street. In the past, it was the site of the Panjaga noble district. The street connected the castle and the summer palace of the Lubomirski family. Along its entire length there are bourgeois kamenitsy, and next to it there are the Farská church, the Bernardine monastery complex and the garrison church. The former Pijarov convention is a late-Renaissance complex of houses, consisting of a college, a church and a monastery building (now it houses a district museum). The interior of the church is made in the Rococo style, and its presbytery contains the gravestone bas-reliefs of the Lubomirski family.

The Rzeszow Old Town, which you can see in the online live camera, occupies the territory of the Market Square online, with the Town Hall and the historic well, which are broadcasted live. Also, the old town owns the adjacent streets, where auctions and fairs were held in ancient times. Around the market square and town hall in the webcam were built residential buildings, inns, shops from the 14th to the 19th and the 20th centuries. Under them cellars and dungeons were constructed for economic and defense purposes. Since 2001, the 213 m long Underground Tourist Route has been launched for tourists, including visits to 34 cellars located at different levels.
