Church of Sant Cristofol de Beget
The Church of Sant Cristofol de Beget in the webcam was built in the 12th century using elements from an earlier building from the 10th and 11th centuries.
The religious building in the live camera is one of the most important examples of Romanesque architecture in Catalonia. Sant Cristofol de Beget, shown in the online broadcast, has been beautifully restored, so online you can see almost its original appearance.
The temple in live broadcast has one nave covered with a barrel vault, a semicircular apse and two side chapels. Some Romanesque paintings have survived, as well as the famous Romanesque statue above the main altar depicting Jesus Christ. Also, the church in the web camera has a beautiful large window, and on one side a square Romanesque bell tower of four floors adjoins it. Its triumphal arch is decorated with paintings in the Romanesque tradition of the artist Joaquim Vayreda of 1890. There is also a Romanesque baptismal font, an alabaster Gothic altarpiece and an interesting set of baroque altarpieces. In 1931, Sant Cristofol de Beget, which you see in the online camera, was declared a historical artistic monument of national importance.
Beget
Beget, where the live broadcast is from, is a Spanish village stuck in the Middle Ages. It is located in the Alta Garottxa region, whose name translates as the High Pole (province of Girona, Catalonia, Spain). As a municipality it was formed in 1969, to which the term Camprodon (Ripollés) was added. The town is included in the Cadastre of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia.
In fact, the entire settlement is one large restored architectural monument. On its territory there are stone houses, the walls of which are decorated with Arabic tiles or tubs with plants and flowers, wooden balconies and narrow streets create a special atmosphere.
Located between two river streams, Beget in the online camera offers tourists walks through the hills and forests in the area. An interesting fact: entry into the village by car is prohibited.
