Llucmajor Church (St. Michael the Archangel)

In our live broadcast, you can see a beautiful view to the center of the city of Llucmajor with the ancient St. Michael the Archangel church (Church of Llucmajor). The temple first appeared here in the middle of the 13th century, and a modern church, which you can see on the webcam, was built in the 18th century. Interestingly, the St. Michael the Archangel church was built for about 40 years. At the end of construction, appeared a chapel and a bell tower.

The style of the Church Llucmajor in our online camera is the neoclassicism and baroque styles mix. The exterior of the temple is quite simple, and the interior, on the contrary, is very richly decorated. The St. Michael the Archangel church, perfectly demonstrated in online webcam, has three entrances, decorated with beautiful portals with arches and stairs.

A bit of history of Mallorca

Till joining Spain in 1716, Jaime III was the last ruler of Mallorca. He got an almost devastated island in a rather disastrous situation. Jaime tried to influence the situation, but, unfortunately, he did not succeed.
Thus, the weakened Mallorca in 1345 was conquered by King Pedro IV of Aragon. Despite the fact that King Jaime was offered a lifetime pension and full pay, he retired to Perpignan, which was a part of the kingdom of Mallorca. A little later, a runaway Jaime sold the city of Montpellier to France on the rights of ownership. So, the king gathered an army and aimed to win Mallorca. At the very Llucmajor Jaime died. Later, in honor of this event in Llucmajor, a part of which you see online, on the place of a great battle where Jaime's fell, was erected a monument, depicting the king with the flag of the no longer existing kingdom of Mallorca.
