The Victory Square, appeared in the 19th century, now is known also for the Circus, the shopping center “Ukraine” and the Eternal Glory obelisk with the “Hero City” inscription, built in 1982. The square is intersected by Taras Shevchenko Boulevard, Victory Avenue and several other streets in the center of Kiev.
Victory Square brief history
In the Victory Square place in webcam, in 1860 there was a Jewish Bazaar clothes market. There is also a second market name – the Galician market. There was an unusual, very unique cast-iron church – “Iron Church”, erected on the Galician Square. In the 1930s, the church was destroyed by the communist regime.
Victory Square in online webcam got its new name we know now in 1952. In Soviet times, Victory Square was the main platform for military parades organization.
A curious fact: in Kiev with this live camera, there are three buildings with the” Victory Square” as an address – Circus, the hotel “Lybid” and the “Ukraine”shopping center.
