Tatranska Lomnica

Our live webcam is located in the ski region of Slovakia – Tatranska Lomnica in the High Tatras. The highest mountain peak is Lomnický štít (2632 m). In winter, Tatranska Lomnica hospitably invites tourists, offering excellent ski slopes, skating rink, cross-country ski runs and sledding opportunities.

The main Tatranska Lomnica resort ski center is the small Skalnate Pleso (1750 m) village, where is also our webcam. The Lomnický štít mountain is also well visible in our webcam. The ski season here lasts from December to April.

The Tatranska Lomnica resort has two ski regions: Skalnate Pleso, which can be seen in online webcam, and Jamy.

In Lomnitsk Saddle there are excellent “black” tracks. The slope width is 300–500 m and the length is 2000 m. Short slopes for beginner skiers are just above the frozen Skalnate Pleso Lake. From Skalnate Pleso goes a medium difficulty degree descent.

The Jamy skiing area has two drag lifts. There are blue and red ski slopes. Also, there are slopes for snowboarders and for tobogganing lovers. Below the Start station there is well equipped toboggan track for the lugers.

High Tatras

High Tatras, part of which is perfectly visible in our live broadcast, are one of the main natural attractions of Slovakia. High Tatras – the highest part of the Carpathians.

Every year, tourists come here to the magnificent ski resorts. The highest peak in the country Gerlachovský štít (2655 m) is here. Besides, in the High Tatras there are a large number of waterfalls (the most famous are the the Cold Creek Waterfalls), glacial lakes (the deepest is Veľké Hincovo pleso), and the rich flora and fauna world.

In the High Tatras there is a national park with a huge number of peaks and mountain lakes. The most famous High Tatras ski resorts are Strbske Pleso, where is also our webcam; Tatranska Lomnica, which is perfectly visible in our live broadcast; Smokovec and Podbanske.

 

Climate

The climate in the High Tatras is alpine. Snow cover is maintained from November to May. At the beginning of summer there is a lot of precipitation. The warmest time is July and August.
