The live webcam perfectly demonstrates one of the oldest and most amazing monuments of Ancient Egypt – the Karnak Temple. This magnificent historical building is located in a village called Karnak on the banks of the Nile River, 2 km from Luxor.
The temple with our online broadcast was built for the Theban triad – Amon-Ra, his wife Mut and their son Khonsu. The royal temple was decorated by the famous Ancient Egypt architect Ineni.
The construction of the Karnak temple in our webcam lasted about 2000 years by several pharaohs of different dynasties, trying to remake it and surpass the former kings of Egypt.
The most curious temple from the whole Temple complex in our live broadcast is the temple of Amon-Ra. The beginning of the construction of this large structure was started by Pharaoh Amenhotep III, who installed 12 columns of 23 m high, relating to the primary nave. Further, the erection was continued by his followers – pharaohs.
The key advantage of the Amun temple is a delightful hypostyle hall, stretched for 52 m in depth and 103 m in width. In the hall there are 144 columns, painted with colorefull bas-reliefs.
At the present time, the Karnak Temple, which is perfectly visible in our web camera, is the world largest religious complex, an important sacred place of Ancient Egypt, a glorious historical monument of Egypt and the second most visited by tourists attraction after the pyramids of Giza.
