Ria Formosa Natural Park

In the webcam you can see the Ria Formosa Natural Park, which stretches along the coast of the Algarve in Portugal. The reserve, where the live stream comes from, is a group of islands, dunes, canals and sandy beaches that cover the areas of Faro, Lule, Olhao, Tavira and Vila Real de Santo António. In 1987, the territory in the online camera received the status of a natural park and now it is one of the most magnificent protected areas in the Algarve.

Ria Formosa in the web camera occupies about 18,000 hectares and includes two peninsulas and five islands: Ancão or Faro, Cacela, Ilha da Barreta, Ilha da Culatra, Ilha de Armona, Ilha de Tavira and Ilha de Cabanas. From Faro, almost every island can only be reached by boat. Ilha de Faro can be reached by car.

Boat tours of the Ria Formosa online, during which you can see the paradise islands and the stunning beauty of nature, depart from Cais da Porta Nova to Faro.

Ria Formosa in live camera is one of the seven natural wonders of Portugal. The protected park is rich in a wide variety of fauna and flora. It has excellent conditions for bird watching. Many species of birds migrate here in winter, making stops along the way from Europe to Africa. Also in the natural region where the live broadcast is conducted from, live chameleons and seahorses, which are on the verge of extinction. Attention is worth the Marim Environmental Education Centre.

Ria Formosa, where this webcam is located, is inhabited by Portuguese water dogs, which can often be found next to fishermen. This breed of dog, bred in the Algarve, sometimes helps catch fish that get caught in nets.

The white sandy beaches that you see in the live camera, as well as warm water, add charm to Ria Formosa. There are all conditions for a secluded holiday for local residents and tourists.

There are many opportunities to explore the nature reserve in an online broadcast: you can rent a kayak, take a bike ride or just walk along the “paths” of the island and enjoy its impressive views.

The most popular and sought after crafts in the area are salt mining, shellfish farming and fishing, which provide the main ingredients for local delicacies such as sabrefish with rice, shellfish and fish soup. Dishes from them can be tasted in many seaside restaurants.

Faro

Faro, where the park in online cam is located, is the most famous city in the Portuguese Algarve region. On its territory there is an archaeological museum and the “Bishop’s Residence” – a Renaissance cathedral, destroyed during the bombing during the Second World War. It was later restored. Ancient Roman ruins still lie in the neighboring region of Estoril, and the city of Albufeira, located nearby, can also be found on the Baltic Live Cam website. It is located among the cliffs and is famous for its 20 beaches and vibrant nightlife.

There are many other interesting Baltic Live Cam live stream cameras –  the picturesque town of Isafjörður,  the port of Akranes in Iceland. Also there are beautiful live nature webcams, like  “Old Faithful” geyser in Yellowstone,  live stream to Popocatepetl volcano in Mexico.
