Thingvellir National Park
In this live broadcast there is the Icelandic Thingvellir National Park the part of the famous Golden Ring, together with the Great Geysir and the Gullfoss waterfal. The park is located at a distance of 45 km northeast of the capital of Iceland, the city of Reykjavik.
Thingvellir (Þingvellir), which is shown in a webcam, acquired the status of the national park of Iceland in 1930. In 2004, it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Due to the unique geology of Thingvellir Park, where the online camera is located, was created a natural amphitheater, as well as the high wall of the Lögberg, rock (Law Rock).
The national park, well shown in live broadcast, is located in the area of the Atlantic Ridge, at the meeting point of North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, moving apart and creating the Great Rift Valley.
In winter, you can watch the beautiful northern lights in Thingvellir.
Tingvellian tectonic plates
Thingvellir Park, which entrance to the territory is shown by an online camera, has an amazing tectonic and volcanic environment in the rift valley. You can get acquainted with the geology of the region in the center of Thingvellir.

The most important feature of Lake Thingvallavatn is its cleanliness. The pond is a popular destination for diving enthusiasts.
Thingvallavatn Lake is the only place in the world where you can dive into the break between tectonic plates to a depth of 40 m, thus swim between the continents in clear, icy water, with visibility up to 100 meters under water.
Immersion in a narrow crack between the American and Eurasian continental platforms, expanding each year by 2 centimeters, will not leave indifferent any experienced diver. The break continues at the bottom of Thingvallavatn Lake. Its investigated part has a depth of up to 63 meters.
In addition to the amazing Thingvallavatn Lake, the lava Silfra gorge with underwater tunnels and caves is of great interest.
