On March 11, 2011, the east coast of Japan, where the live broadcast is coming from, suffered the most powerful earthquake in the history of the country with a magnitude of 9, when a tsunami hit the coast, which led to an accident at the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant online, which led to a nuclear disaster – one of the the most terrible on the planet.

The basements of the Fukushima online were flooded. It was there that the switchgear, backup generators and batteries were located. The station in the web camera turned out to be de-energized, which led to the failure of the emergency cooling system.

From the beginning of the disaster on March 11 and until March 15, the liquidators made attempts to prevent explosions in the reactors. But it was decided to evacuate the rescuers, after which there was an explosion in the third block. Fortunately, there were no human casualties, but many got injuries and radiation. Among the population of the town near the Fukushima station in the live broadcast there were losses: about 50 people died.

A report from the World Health Organization, which appeared in 2013, mentions that an accident at a nuclear power plant is unlikely to lead to a surge in cancer in the region from which the online broadcast is being conducted.

Accident on Fukushima in live camera, like the Chernobyl accident, was assigned the highest rating on the international scale of nuclear disasters.

The earthquake and tsunami in the region of the nuclear power plant in the online camera led to sad consequences: about 18.5 thousand people died and went missing. Almost half a million local residents were left homeless.

Many experts who studied the situation came to the conclusion that the protection system at the nuclear power plant in the webcam was not prepared for such a large-scale disaster. And in the actions of the government there was not enough decisiveness and speed of reaction.

An independent investigation was carried out, the result of which was the conclusion that the cause of the disaster was the human factor. The operator of the nuclear power plant, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), was charged with safety violations and lack of an emergency plan.

In 2012, Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda made a statement and found the state to be responsible for the incident. In 2019, the court officially approved partial responsibility for the authorities and ordered the payment of compensation to the victims.

Currently, many years after the nuclear power disaster on Fukushima Daiichi in web camera, several cities in northeastern Japan are still closed. In about 30-40 years, the government plans to “revive” them again. Most of the inhabitants of the region affected by the disaster have long settled in other cities in Japan and do not plan to return, even when it becomes possible, for fear of radiation.
