Animal shelter „Labās mājas”
There is an interesting Baltic Live Cam live stream camera from the Latvian animal shelter „Labās mājas” (Good home). It has been opened in the Riga district of Jugla in 2010 and it has become a home for more than 60 cats and dogs ever since. The shelter has been opened thanks to the work of the “Juglas dzīvnieku aizsardzības grupa” (Animal Protection Group of Jugla) society that has been established in 2000 and that was operating a dog shelter since 1999, making it the oldest animal welfare group in Latvia. Since that time, it has helped find a new home for over 5000 stray, homeless and traumatized dogs and cats.
Web camera online is showing a cat room. You can watch how the cats play, sleep and how they communicate with the visitors.
Above all the numbers, the innovative approach to work is why the „Labās mājas” shelter stands out among the others – in 2003, it was the first Latvian shelter that started the globally used “Trap-Neuter-Return” program that aimed at sterilizing stray cats, in cooperation with the municipality of Riga. Needless to say, the number of homeless pets on the streets of Riga has decreased dramatically after that. The shelter is still practicing the program and is one of the most important animal welfare advocates in Latvia.
The shelter „Labās mājas” , with live stream you can see here, is also a proud representative of Latvian animal shelters worldwide, being included in both WSPA (World Society for the Protection of Animals) and RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), which are worldwide organizations that are aimed at stopping animal cruelty and which views are shared by the administration, workers and volunteers of the „Labās mājas” shelter.
„Labās mājas” representatives is always busy in helping pets find a new home, but they will always take some time to everybody who wish to adopt a cat or a dog. It also comes as no surprise that the shelter is always in need of everyday items, such as cat litter filler, dry and canned food, all of which you can buy right on this page – “Labās Mājas” from the Animalslife.NET project.
