Our live webcam perfectly demonstrates the famous ski resort of Cataloochee in the US state of North Carolina. The resort is located in Maggie Valley on Ivy Hill.

The Cataloochee Ski & Ride Center, which you see in the online camera, is a great skiing destination for both experienced skiers and snowboarders and beginners. Cataloochee, well demonstrated by our webcam, offers fun and effective programs for all ages, ability levels and needs.

Cataloochee Ski Center, visible in the online cam, is a member of 2 organizations: the Professional Ski Instructors of America and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (PSIA-AASI). Cataloochee provides lessons in the group, as well as private lessons for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. There are special children’s instructors too.

The ski resort in the Cataloochee center, with our live cam, lasts from late November to early April.

 

Cataloochee Valley

Besides the excellent ski resort of Cataloochee, which you can see in the online webcam, here is a beautiful place – the Cataloochee Valley. There are many historical buildings in this valley, including two churches, a school, several houses and outbuildings. Also here you can see the historical frame buildings of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Cataloochee Valley, where our webcam is located, lies among the most severe mountains in the southeastern of United States. Surrounded by high peaks, this isolated valley has always been one of the largest and most prosperous settlements. This valley belongs to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

At the beginning of the 20th century, about 1,200 people lived in the Cataloochee Valley with our live webcam. Most of them were occulated in agriculture, including apple growing. After the touristic industry began to develop, in Cataloochee, many people started to work in fishing and tourism.

There are many wild animals in the Cataloochee Valley. So, you can get acquainted with deer, moose, turkey and other representatives of the fauna. The best wildlife watching is on the open fields of the valley in the morning and evening.

Boogerman Trail is especially popular among tourists. This hinge of old forests groves is more than 11 km long.The Cataloochee Creek River and its affluents are known for their wild trout population.

Keep in mind: the access road to the Cataloochee Valley, where the ski resort is being shown by our webcam, is curved, gravel and narrow with steep slopes and no fences.
