A little over 1,000 people live in the seaside village where the live broadcast is coming from. The village itself has been part of the municipality of San Cristobal de la Laguna since 1850.

Punta del Hidalgo, which you see in the online camera, has been flourishing in fishing and agriculture since ancient times. But after the 60s of the 20th century, the settlement became one of the main tourist regions of the north of Tenerife.
