History of Lech Wałęsa Airport

Gdansk International Airport (Port Lotnisko Gdn im. Lecha Wałęsy), where our live broadcast is coming from, began its work in 1974 in the western district of Matarnia, near the Rębiechowo villag. In 1997, a new terminal was built. Gdansk Airport in the webcam got its modern name in 2005.

Air carriers and flights

The services of the airport, whose runway is clearly visible online, are mostly used by low cost airlines: Wizz Air and Ryanair. Domestic flights are operated by Polish companies LOT Polish Airlines, SprintAir and the aforementioned low cost airlines. Scandinavian Airlines System (Lufthansa, Finnair, Norwegian) is engaged in northern destinations. Southern flights are carried out by Ryanair. Across Europe – Wizz Air.

How to get to the Lech Wałęsa Airport

To get to the airport, which you see in the live camera, it is possible by train, bus or car.

For example, between the city of Gdansk and the airport in our webcam there are buses No110, No 210 and No3 (night). Also, there is a bus No4A goes from the Gdynia railway station and No122 bus service from Sopot station.

High-speed trains approach the airport in an online camera every 30 min. The train stop is located near the terminal T2.
