The Wachau Valley is included in the UNESCO list. There are excellent vineyards and dazzlingly beautiful landscapes. The length of the Donau river is 2857 km. This is the largest river that flows into the Black Sea. The source of the Donau or Danube is located on the lands of Germany in the Black Forest mountains near the town of Donaueschingen where the two mountain streams Breguet and Brigham connect in one stream. Before entering the Black Sea, the Donau, which is perfectly visible in our online webcam, passes through the regions of 16 European countries: Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Yugoslavia, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine, Slovenia, Czech Republic , Bosnia and Herzegovina, part of Switzerland, Italy and Poland.
The landscape surrounding the Donau is different: here are high glacier mountains, medium attitude mountain ranges and plains thick covered forests.

The Austrian town of Spiez, which picturesque part our webcam demonstrates perfectly, is located in the Lower Austria (Niederosterreich) region, preoccupying the north-eastern part of the country. There is a huge number of rivers and lakes here: the rivers - Kamp, Krems, Klamm, Lainsitz, March and Thaya, lakes - Lunzer and Erlaufsee. The largest European river, the Danube, which is visible in our web camera, also passes through the territory of Spitz.
The Lower Austria capital is the city of St. Pölten.
It is Lower Austria, due to its favorable geographical position and warm climate, famous for its vineyards. Wine from this region is exported outside the state. One of the most popular regions of Lower Austria - Retzer Land, is located near the city of Retz, about one hour drive from Vienna. There is the largest and oldest wine cellar in Austria, where are many daily visitors.
