It is a walled area, with neighborhoods representing an ancient system of communal housing. In the distant past, the city was surrounded by a ten-kilometer wall with 12 gates, 189 bastions and more than 6,000 loopholes. Now all that remains of it is the gate, decorated with amazing carvings and calligraphy. While the eastern part of the city enchants with the remains of the ancient world, gates and buildings of the colonial era, the western part is home to a new city filled with street food stalls and colorful bazaars. In addition, there are educational institutions, entertainment centers and business districts.
Ahmedabad, where this live webcam is located, was called Karnavati in the past, but in 1411 Sultan Ahmed Shah from the Muzaffarid dynasty conquered the city from King Karandev I and gave it a new name – Ahmedabad. Under Ahmed Shah, architects combined Hindu craftsmanship with Persian architecture to create a unique Indo-Saracenic style that is reflected in many of the city’s mosques on live stream.
Ahmedabad with the temple in the online camera was the capital of the state of Gujarat from 1960 to 1970. But still on its territory is the Supreme Court of Gujarat and the center of commerce of the state.
