In our PTZ HD webcam, you can get acquainted with a piece of France – Saint Pierre and Miquelon archipelago, located 25 km from Canada. The colorful houses of Saint Pierre and Miquelon which you see in the live view are very similar to Scandinavian houses.
The archipelago, where our webcam is located, includes 8 islands. Only two of them are inhabited: the island of Saint-Pierre with the most populous city of the same name, from where the live stream is conducted and the island of Miquelon.
Traveling around Saint-Pierre in our live camera, visit the bright green Heritage Museum, where you can get acquainted with the interesting history of the archipelago. Another curious museum of the city in the live cam is Museum of the Archipelago, telling about the hard fishermen life.
The island of Saint-Pierre, well shown online, offers travels across the ocean or numerous lakes.
Pay a visit to Grand Colombier Nature Reserve, a revered place for bird watchers. In the large protected area there are most of the migratory birds settled. This is a unique place with the Atlantic puffins. It is also interesting to follow wingless eels, and in the distance to observe humpback whales, finals and dolphins.
Miquelon Island is the largest of all the islands of the archipelago. It consists of three small peninsulas: Le Cap, Grand Miquelon, Langlade (Petite Miquelon).
Miquelon is a natural island. It is especially nice to board an inflatable boat in the picturesque blue lagoon of Gran Barashua and set off to observe gray or common seals. You can also meet them at Cape Percé.
In the very north of the island of Cape Miquelon, birds of prey nest among the rocks.
The best place for a walk is the Cormorandière valley, located among peat bogs and the only taiga forest in France.
On the archipelago of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, which coast you see in our webcam, is inhabited by more than 300 species of migratory birds, about 100 species nest on the islands.
Saint Pierre and Miquelon has a cool and humid climate. Summer is rainy and foggy, with an average air temperature of 13-14 C. Winter, thanks to the warm Gulf Stream, is quite mild and snowy. The water temperature in the ocean approaches 7-15 C. The coldest month is February, when the air temperature averages -2.7. Sometimes, due to the cold Labrador Current, the temperature drops to + 2-7 C in the summer. Spring and autumn bring strong winds and clear weather. Water near the coast is extremely rarely covered with ice. The best time to travel to the islands of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon in our live camera is from May to August.
