Cumhuriyet Square, which you see live, is surrounded by historic buildings. The most important of them are: the House of the Government of the architect Vedat Tek (Mimar Vedat Tek’in Hükümet Konağı), the administration building of the Kastamonu University (Kastamonu Üniversitesi Rektörlük Binası), the cultural center Rifat Ilgaz (Rıfat Ilgaz Kültür Merkezi). On the square in the online camera there is an amphitheater and a monument to Sheriff Bacı, which symbolizes the struggle for independence.

Kastamonu

The live streaming town of Kastamonu was founded in the 8th century BC, when it was named Timonion. Until the 14th century, it was called Kastamon. In the 1st century BC it was part of the Byzantine Empire. At the beginning of the 11th century, Kastamonu was captured by the Seljuk Turks. Almost 100 years later, Byzantium conquered the city again. At the beginning of the 13th century, Byzantium fell apart and Kastamonu again passed into the possession of the Turks. Later, in the 14th century, the city was the center of the Jandarids or Beylik of Jandar, conquered by the Ottoman Empire.
