Surf spot in Livadia

The webcam on the island of Cyprus shows a place for excellent surfing in the city of Livadia, located in the vicinity of Larnaca.

Livadia, where the live broadcast is coming from, was just a simple fishing village that has changed a lot recently. In the northeast, the town in this online camera has borders with Oroklini, in the north with Kellia, with the municipality of Aradippou in the west, and in the southeast by the sea.

In addition to the municipality of Livadia in Larnaca, the coast of which you can see online, there are several other settlements in Cyprus bearing this name. These are the village of Livadia in the Pitsilia region, Livadia Karpasia near Komi Kepir, a small settlement in the Chrysochou region and the newer village of Neo Livadi Morphou.

Walking around Livadia in this web camera, it is interesting to get acquainted with three temples, the oldest of which is the temple of St. Paraskeva. The other two churches – the Church of the Three Hierarchs (Three Saints) and the Church of St. Sava are modern buildings.

In addition to churches, in Livadia, where the online stream is conducted from, there are several interesting chapels, for example, the unique chapel of St. Apostle Jude Thaddeus and St. Paisios. This is the only chapel on the island of Cyprus, erected in honor of Saint Jude – the namesake of Judas Iscariot. Other chapels of the municipality: St. Kyriaki, St. Panteleimon and St. Anastasia Farmakolytria.

In the northeast of Livadia, where the online camera is located, there is a secondary school of Livadia, which began to function only in 2002, and a short distance from it is a high school of Livadia.

In Livadia, whose beach is shown by a live camera, it is interesting to visit the Craft of Caning Museum or, as it is also called, the Kalamurgiki Memorial Museum (Μουσείο Μνήμης Καλαμουργικής), opened in November 2016. This museum appeared at the initiative of the municipality of Livadia with the aim of preserving the memory of the population of the community about the use and processing of cane.

Undoubtedly one of the attractions worth seeing is Lake Oroklini bordering Livadia. This reservoir is one of seven natural wetlands in Cyprus. Lake Oroklini is part of the EU’s comprehensive European nature conservation program Natura 2000. In accordance with the European Birds Directive, the lake has been designated a „Special Conservation Area“ for two breeding bird species: the stilt (Himantopus Himantopus) and the clawed lapwing (Vanellus spinosus).

Climate

Livadia, shown live, has a Mediterranean climate suitable for recreation all year round. Summer is long and hot here. The duration of the swimming season is about 6 months. The sun shines in the city for more than 300 days a year. The average annual air temperature is + 22C, and the water temperature does not drop below + 16C even in winter.
