Bishkek in the webcam is the capital of Kyrgyzstan and the largest city in the country in terms of the number of inhabitants (more than 1 million).

The city in this online camera is located in the center of the Chuy Valley at the base of one of the Tien Shan mountain ranges – the Kyrgyz Ala-Too range. Its length is 375 kilometers and it extends from the Boom Gorge to the Talas region. The highest point of the ridge (4875 meters) is the Semenov-Tian-Shansky Peak.

The wide Ala-Too square is a traditional place for solemn city events and folk festivals. It also served as the main stage of the Tulip Revolution in 2005 and the riots in April 2010. In 2011, a 10-meter equestrian statue of the hero of the folk epic Manas the Magnanimous, who united the Kyrgyz, was installed in the center of the parade ground.
