Hindeloopen Harbour

In this webcam you can see the harbour of the ancient sailors and fishermen city of Hindeloopen, located in the Dutch province of Friesland near Lake Ijsselmeer. In the live broadcast you can also see moored fishing and pleasure boats. In small houses that fall into the lens of an online camera, the port administration is located.

The whole of Hindeloopen, whose harbour shows this live camera, is filled with narrow canals with wooden bridges. Here are picturesque miniature houses, and not far from the pier in the webcam there is a beautiful house of the 17th century with a nameplate with the coat of arms of the city.

You can learn about the life of the wealthy Hindeloopen residents of the 18th century in the Museum of Education (Museum Hidde Nijland Stichting) with expensive dresses and furniture objects decorated with paintings. There is also an art gallery inside the museum.

Friesland

Friesland (Fryslan), from where the online broadcast on the Baltic Live Cam website comes from, is one of the most picturesque provinces of Netherlands.

The name of Friesland appeared thanks to the “Frisians”, people living on its territory until the 7th century. In 1524, the lands belonged to the Frisians entered in a group of 17 provinces – the forerunner of the Netherlands.

On the territory of Friesland with Hindeloopen harbour showed in a webcam, there are quite unusual types of outdoor activities like sailing, racing special skutjes boats, poles jumps (flerljeppen), ball games (keatsen), and even such unexpected entertainment as a bird egg search. From time to time, a large-scale skater’s marathon of Elfstedentocht, which runs through 11 cities of Friesland, takes place.

The capita of the province, where the live stream is conducted from, is the city of Leeuwarden, the main highlight of which are unusual museums. The natural landscapes of Leeuwarden include both swampy lowlands near Waddenzee Bay and forests in the eastern part of the city.

Of the natural attractions in the capital of Friesland online, the moorlands Drents-Friese National Park stands out.

All Friesland, part of which is shown by an online camera, has stunningly beautiful landscapes. In the south-west of the province there are picturesque Friesian lakes (Friese meren). In the northern part there are dams and old castles, surrounded by wooden houses with the bell towers of ancient temples. In the south, there is hilly landscape of Gaasterland, with forest and rocky landscapes unique for Holland. In the southeast lies the Frisian Forest (Friese wooden), similar to German natural beauties.
