In the center of Maidan Nezalezhnosti there is the 50-meter-high Archangel Michael Monument – a symbol of the independence of Ukraine.

There is magnificent St. Andrew’s church made by sculptor Rastrelli at the very beginning of the descent. According to legend, St. Andrew’s Church is located on the place where the Apostle Andrew the First-Called put his cross 2,000 years ago.

Climate

The beach season in urban beach areas falls at the end of spring and lasts until early September. Autumn is quite dry and sunny. In October it is cold at night, and in November there is ice here. The winter period in Kiev is mild, there is a lot of snow. The frostiest month is January.
