Our live broadcast perfectly demonstrates one of the main attractions of the city of Kiev – Sofiyskaya Square, located in the historic center of the city. Nearby, there is Saint Sophia’s Cathedral (in our webcam on the right). Also, there are Golden Gate and St. Michael’s Cathedral.
Saint Sophia’s Cathedral, which is perfectly visible in our webcam, is one of the symbols of the city of Kiev. At the moment, the services here are held strictly on schedule, the rest of the time the cathedral serves as a museum. Saint Sophia’s Cathedral is included in the UNESCO list.

Saint Sophia’s Cathedral is known for its interesting architecture and interior. In the 17th century, the cathedral was given a look of baroque style, but its interior retains an 11th century mosaic and amazing Bible scenes frescoes.
There are 100 graves in the Sofia’s Cathedral in our live stream. For example, Yaroslav the Wise and his wife Irina sarcophagus are kept here.
Kiev is the ancient city and capital of Ukraine, the real Kievan Rus’ cradle. There are many historical treasures there, for example, the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is definitely worth mentioning. There is the tomb of the Moscow founder, Prince Yury Dolgoruky, kept the in the The Church of the Saviour at Berestovo.
Besides the famous Saint Sophia’s Cathedral in our live broadcast, in Kiev there is another equally important temple – the ancient St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery. It was built at the beginning of the 12th century and served as the burial place for the great princes. But in 1937 the temple was destroyed. Later, close to the end of the 90s, the cathedral was restored.
There is another interesting sight of Kiev – Motherland Monument, 102 meters. At its base there is the Museum of the History of Ukraine of World War II.
There is an interesting feature in the center of Kiev in our live broadcast: all the streets of the capital are connected to the Maidan Nezalezhnosti square – the main center of Ukrainian political life. This square is a large trench that unites Stalin’s architecture buildings. In the center of Maidan Nezalezhnosti there is the 50-meter-high Archangel Michael Monument – a symbol of the independence of Ukraine.
There is another interesting object in Kiev – Andreevsky Descent, filled with artists, restaurants, shops, street musicians. There is magnificent St. Andrew’s church made by sculptor Rastrelli at the very beginning of the descent. According to legend, St. Andrew’s Church is located on the place where the Apostle Andrew the First-Called put his cross 2,000 years ago.
In Kiev there is temperate continental climate. The hottest months are July and August. The beach season in urban beach areas falls at the end of spring and lasts until early September. Autumn is quite dry and sunny. In October it is cold at night, and in November there is ice here. The winter period in Kiev is mild, there is a lot of snow. The frostiest month is January.
