Gaios

In front of you in the online camera there is the port town of Gaios, located in the west of the island of Paxos (Paxi) by the Ionian Sea in Greece.

The village of Gaios, where the live broadcast is coming from, got its name from Saint Gaius, a disciple of the Apostle Paul, who preached Christianity on the island.

Gaios harbors, one of which is shown in the webcam, is protected by two islands of the island – Agios Nikolaos and Panagia.

In Gaios online, there are: Paxi Museum, churches of St. Nicholas and St. John, as well as an old mill. On the island of Agios Nikolaos there is an old Venetian castle of Agios Nikolaos. The Panagia Monastery has been preserved on the island of Panagia.

From Gaios, the coast of which you can see online, there are excursion ferries with tourists passing around Paxos and to the island of Antipaxos or Antipaxi.

Paxos

Little Paxos or Paxi, where this webcam is located, and the neighboring island of Antipaxos to the south, are the smallest of the Ionian archipelago. It is a quiet and cozy island with picturesque beaches, transparent blue sea, excellent cafes and restaurants.

The beaches on Paxos in the live camera, are mostly unequipped pebble. Sometimes, when entering the sea, soft sand is encountered. The most beautiful beach is at Antipaxi, in Wutumi Bay.

Paxos in the online footage, gained great popularity in Greece thanks to the unique Blue Caves (although the color is actually creamy champagne). They are located in the west of the island. The Blue Caves are gigantic steep cliffs of various shades of beige, where the azure waters of the Ionian Sea beat. There are many caves and grottoes in the rocks, where excursion boats often go. All this beauty is surrounded by emerald olive groves, among which old Orthodox churches can be seen.

In the capital of the island of Paxi in the web camera, the city of Gaios with the embankment in the live camera, there is a statue of George Anemogiannis, a hero and fighter for independence and participant in the Greek War of 1821-1832.

On the neighboring island of Paxos online – Antipaxos, there is an opportunity to visit the English reservoir of 1833 and the Church of St. Emilian, as well as taste the wine that has been produced here for several hundred years.
