Oudenaarde Town Hall

In this HD webcam you have a great opportunity to see the famous Town Hall (Stadhuis van Oudenaarde) located on the Market Square in the historical center of Oudenaarde. The Oudenaarde Town Hall, which the online camera shows well, was built close to beginning of 1536. Its building, as can be clearly seen in the live view camera, is made in the Brabant Gothic style.

The tower of the town hall, clearly visible in the webcam, is under the protection of UNESCO heritage. Its peak is represented by the bronze monument of the national hero Hanske de Krijger.

There are 3 halls in the Oudenaarde Town Hall: People’s Hall, Hall of city elders and the Silver Room.

Oudenaarde

The Pearl of the Flemish Ardennes, the Belgian city of Oudenaarde, which town hall is shown by the online camera, is located on the bank of Scheldt River, in East Flanders, on the south of Ghent. Founded in the 11th century Oudenaarde actively developed and grew up, overcoming difficult historical moments.

Currently, the city in the live stream is a small Belgian village that has gained great popularity among tourists. Besides the city hall, which can be clearly seen online, there are other interesting: Saint Walburga church (Sint-Walburgakerk), the Cloth Hall building of the 14th century and the Church of Our Lady of Pemele (13th century), located in the city quarter of Pamele (Onze-Lieve-VrouwekerkvanPamele).

In the city of Oudenaarde, which center perfectly illustrated in the online camera, there are three interesting fountain. By the way, in the live broadcast one of them is clearly visible – the Royal Fountain with three dolphins, built in 1676, as a gift to the city residents. This is the first public fountain in Oudenaarde.

Not far from the Market Square on Gentiel Antheunisplein Street there is the Lion Fountain of 1830. It is a stone pedestal with the copper dolphins’ heads and the Dutch lion holding a coat of arms. The shield is decorated with the “W” letter, meaning “King William I”. Later, the date “1831” appeared on the shield, it is a symbol of the Belgian independence.

The third fountain is Louise-Maria Fountain appeared in 1853 on the embankment of the Scheldt River. This fountain is a copy of Place de la Concorde fountain in Paris. It got its name in honor of the Queen of Belgium.

The last, but not least, attraction in the city of Oudenaarde, from where the online broadcast is conducted, is the 16th century house of the Duchess Margaret of Parma. You can enter into the house only through the Baudouin tower, the oldest building in the city dating back to the 12th century.
