Mount Princeton, which you see in the online camera, is rightfully considered the top – collegiate peaks in the viewing range of the Rocky Mountains of North America.
The first recorded ascent of Mount Princeton in a web camera was recorded on July 17, 1877 at 12:30. William Libby from Princeton University climbed to the top. Thus, presumably, the mountain in the online broadcast is named after Princeton University.
It is possible that different miners climbed the peak before. The name “Mount Princeton” is known to have been used as early as 1873. Therefore, there is a strong possibility that the mountain got its name from Henry Gannetto, a Harvard graduate and chief surveyor, in the course of government research conducted by George M. Wheeler.
The height of Mount Princeton in live broadcast is relatively small and is 4327 meters.
The most favorable months for conquering the peak are June, July, August and September. Any person can climb a mountain like Princeton in an online live camera: there is no need for special technical training or special physical strength for this. All you need to take with you is a thermos and sandwiches to sit on the mountain and have a bite to eat after a long trip. By correctly calculating your strength, you can easily go through this simple, but at the same time difficult route.
The Rocky Mountains, where the online stream is conducted from, belong to the Cordillera mountain system, stretching along the Pacific coast of both American continents from Alaska in the north to Tierra del Fuego in the south. These are “young” mountains that appeared in the Tertiary period. On the territory of the Rocky Mountains in the online camera, you can often contemplate manifestations of volcanic activity – geysers, hot springs.
In the Cascade Mountains (another ridge of the Cordilleras of North America), there is an active volcano of Mount St. Helens. Its last eruption lasted from 1980 to 1982. The explosion, which occurred a few weeks after the start of the eruption, cost the lives of 80 residents.
The Rocky Mountains online reach their highest height above the Great Plains in the state of Colorado, and branches of the main mountain range descend to New Mexico itself.
