The webcam is aimed at the historic Market Square (Marktplatz) in Wernigerode. As you can see well online, the area is lined with beautiful granite: it is mined in the Harz Mountains. There are beautiful buildings of the 17-18th centuries made in timber framing style, located along the perimeter of the Wernigerode market square, which you see in a live stream. In the center of Marktplatz, shown in a webcam, stands the Wohltaeterbrunnen fountain of 1848.
Also on the square in the online camera there is the City Hall, striking in its beauty and origin. In 1277, this building was used for theatrical performance and other entertainment activities for the nobility. In the 16th century, the Town hall was rebuilt: elements of the late Gothic style appeared in architecture with unique 33 wooden figures depicting saints, clowns, virgins, boys and servants.

As a result, the appearance of Wernigerode Castle is a mixture of Gothic and Renaissance. The picturesque facade of the fortress was created by Count Otto Stolberg-Wernigerode. Currently, there is a museum here with Kaisers portraits, luxurious banquet hall, rooms with original furniture, castle church, altar and a pulpit of French marble.
Of the religious monuments in Wernigerode, whose center is visible online, deserves attention the church of St. Sylvester, located in the center of the upper church courtyard of the Oberpfarrkirchhof. In the south of the courtyard there is the Gadenstedtshes house, built in 1582. Its main difference from the rest houses is the Renaissance bay window.
