Jablunkov

In front of you in a live broadcast there is the small Czech town of Jablunkov, located in the Frýdek-Místek district. This is the easternmost settlement in the country.

The main attractions of Jablunkov, well shown online, are the historical square with a fountain and a Baroque statue of Immaculata from 1655, the Renaissance parish church of Corpus Christi from 1620, rebuilt in the Neo-Gothic style, the Old Monastery with preserved vaults of 1861 and the Elizabeth Monastery of 1928.

The history of Jablunkov, which you see in the webcam, is closely connected with the Principality of Cieszyn.

The most striking example of the Moravian authors’ architecture is the famous Pulmonary Sanatorium (1933-1935), a functional and artistically significant work in the city, part of which is shown in an online camera. At the sanatorium there is a beautiful natural landscape park, created in 1936-1938 according to the project of architect J. Rull. The charm of the park is illustrated by the arboretum of more than 500 species of rare trees, shrubs and sculptures by Vincenc Makovský – Resting, Sitting Woman and Two Women. There is also a statue of Hygie – a legendary monument to 80 executed members of the Humanita association of the Czech sculptor Jan Tříska.

Of the entertainment events in the city of Jablunkov, well demonstrated in the webcast online, it can be noted the Gorolski Święto regional folk festival, which has been taking place since 1948 and held annually in August. This event is included in the Beskid International Culture Week.

In neighboring Dolní Lomná, the annual Country-Folk Festival is held in July and the Silesian Days ethnographic festival is takes place in September.

Jablunkov, from where the live stream is conducted, and its outskirts are tourist and recreational paradise. It is surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges: Silesian Beskids, Moravian-Silesian Beskids and Slovak Beskids.

In summer, tourists often go hiking and cycling, visit the swimming pool with water slides in Jablunkov in live camera, or swimming pools and sports fields in nearby recreation areas.

In winter, there is the opportunity to ski at winter resorts such as Bahenec, Velké Polom, Skalka, Kozubová, Dolní and Horní Lomná, Mosty u Jablunkova and Hrádek.
