In front of you in a webcam there is the beautiful Czech town of Karvina, located on the Olza River, near the border with Poland.

In the village you see online, there are many interesting sights and attractive places. For example, the church of Saint Mark, the City Hall Karviná, the Božena-Němcová-Park, the cast iron fountain and water tower.

The most popular sight in Karvina, from where the live broadcast is conducted, is the medieval Frystat castle. In past centuries, this citadel stood guard over the trade route, defending the surrounding of the city. At the beginning the castle was a wooden fort, but later a stone fortress was erected, thanks to which Karvina in this live camera received the status of a city.

The Frystat fortress was attacked during the warrior’s time and was destroyed. The Thirty Years’ War of the Protestants and the imperial Catholic Army inflicted the greatest damage to the fortress.

Despite of that, Frystat changed owners several times. The last owner of the castle was the Irish nobleman Taafů who introduced Irish architecture elements into the Renaissance citadel. The interior of the fortress contains parts of original Gothic elements and valuable ceiling frescoes. At the end of the 20th century, the complex was reconstructed and opened to the public. The castle park of 1804, renamed in honor of Božena Němcová, is considered an important representative park of Karvina city, that you see in web camera.

Not far from the Frystat castle, there is a well-known health resort famous for its iodine-bromine water since 1867.

The largest number of attractions in the Karvina region, whose center you see online, are in the princely town of Frystat with a visible traces of the Piast clan rule. Since 1992, Frystat has been a historically important city area is protected by the state.

In Frystat there is the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (Church of the Virgin Mary). This is the parish church built in the beginning of the 14th century – the oldest architectural monument in the modern city of Karvina in live camera.

Tourists have a great interest to the City Hall of Karvina, where there is an online webcam. The Town Hall is an empire-style building with a Renaissance-style tower of the late 16th century and a stone coat of arms of Piast family.

An important religious building in the city that you see in the live stream camera is the Church of St. Mark in the classicism style, erected in 1774.

Pay attention to the Meshchansky houses – unusual buildings in Renaissance style, with well-preserved underground tunnels.

The Darkov village, also located in the Karvina district, is known for its “Public House” – Art Nouveau building of the late 19th century. Today, there hold social and cultural events and concerts.

The “The Sokolov Heroes’ Bridge” is an interesting technical monument in the style of functionalism, built in 1925 across the Olza River.

There is also a beautiful Spa Park and old resort mansions in Drakovo. The park area, opened at the end of the 19th century, adjoining the castle park. There are functionalist style villas built in the early 20th century on its territory.

Visit Dole, a suburb of Karvina in that webcam. There is the St. Peter of Alcantara Parish Church, built in 1736 on the site of an old Gothic wooden church that has preserved the original stone font.
