The construction of the Hercilio Luz Bridge, which this webcam shows perfectly, began on November 14, 1922. It was opened on May 13, 1926.The total length of the bridge in live camera is 819.471 m.

The bridge where this online camera is located was named after the state Santa Catarina governor – Hercilio Luz. In 1982, the Hercilio Luz Bridge online, perfectly demonstrated by the webcam, was closed for security reasons. It reopened on March 15, 1988 for pedestrians, bicycles, motorcycles, and horseback riding only. Later, it was completely closed on July 4, 1991, after a report in February 1990 with analyze of the bridge traffic resuming.

In 1997, the important bridge was declared a historical and artistic monument.
