Friendship Bridge

In this webcam you can see the road arched Friendship Bridge spanning the Parana River, which connects the Brazilian city of Foz do Iguaçu and Ciudad del Este in Paraguay. The length of the bridge is 552.4 meters.

The decision to build the Friendship Bridge in the online camera was taken in May 1956. On November 4 of the same year, a commission was established to manage the project and carry out the work. The bridge was designed by architect José Paulo Rodrigues de Almeida Leite. The construction of the Friendship Bridge in a live broadcast began in 1957.

For the construction of a bridge connecting Paraguay and Brazil in the web camera, it was decided to cut down about 14 hectares of virgin forest, all the wood of which was used in the construction.

The inauguration of the viaduct took in live stream place on March 27, 1965, in the presence of the President of Brazil, U. Castelo Branco, and the President of Paraguay, Stroessner.

After the appearance of the Friendship Bridge, which you see in the online live camera, the rapid development of the city of Ciudad del Este, located on the Paraguayan side, began. Since this city is a free trade zone, an endless line of cars from Brazil pass on the bridge around the clock to Ciudad del Este.

Foz do Iguacu

Foz do Iguaçu, where the online broadcast is coming from, is a small city in the south of Brazil, built in the early 20th century, when its territory was belonged to neighboring Paraguay. Foz do Iguacu attracts tourists because three state borders converge here at once: Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. In addition, the town is famous for the famous Iguazu Falls.

Foz do Iguacu itself, where the webcam is located, is quite cozy and cute, with interesting architecture: the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, the Catholic Church, the Buddhist Temple.

As mentioned above, in the city, or rather a little outside of it, there are magnificent Iguazu Falls. In addition to picturesque views, there is best view to the famous Devil’s Throat waterfall in the form of a giant horseshoe 150 meters wide and 82 meters high. It is convenient to get to these places by buses running from the central city bus station every 30 minutes.

Interestingly, Iguazu National Park is located in two countries at once: Argentina and Brazil. Within its limits, there are tropical animals in their natural habitat: huge butterflies, hundreds of species of parrots, hummingbirds, monkeys and other representatives of the fauna. On the territory of the park there is a museum where you can learn more about the life of the indigenous population – the Guarani Indians.

Of great tourist interest in the city, where the live broadcast is conducted from, is a visit to the “Foz do Iguacu” bird park (“Foz Tropicana”). Inside the enclosures live birds of prey only. The rest of the birds fly freely and roam around the park.

An interesting fact: the birds in “Foz Tropicana” are not afraid of people, they are so used to them that are happy to communicate and take pictures with visitors.
