Kadaň Castle

In front of you, in a live broadcast, there is one of the most important and ancient sights of the Czech city of Kadaň – Kadaň Castle, located on the edge of the rocky cliff of the Ohře River.

Kadaň fortress, well shown in this live camera, was destroyed several times and experienced the horrors of fire.

The Gothic castle of Kadaň, proudly towering in front of you in this webcam, was reconstructed several times, so in its original form only cellars and parts of the walls on the first floor have survived to this day.

Currently, tourists visit the Ceremonial Hall of the fortress in an online camera, and a small museum which tells the history of the Kadaň Castle in this live stream camera.

Kadaň

The city of Kadaň, where there is live stream from, was founded by the ruler Przemysł II Ottokar near the Ohře River.

To protect the city, in 1260 was built the Kadaň Castle in the online camera, performed a defensive function.

The main Kadaň square, where also there is a webcam, is one of the most popular attractions of the city. It houses a fountain, a plague column of the 18th century and a city government building of the 15th century.

On the territory of the historical center of Kadaň in the live stream, there are two city monasteries, one of which, founded in the 13th century, belonged to the Minority Order. Later, in 19th century, the monastery was reconstructed.

Another monastery, managed by the Franciscans, now is a geological and archaeological museum.

Kadaň has a large number of ancient sights located around the central city square. Besides Kadaň Castle, you see streaming, there are other interesting places.

One of the most popular places in the city with live footage, is “Executioner’s Street” or “Katova Street” – the narrowest alley in the Czech Republic. This interesting object of the old Kadaň, telling about the past times of the city. Designed for the local executioner, the Gothic street has dark stone walls and narrow arched walkways with paved tiles. In ancient times, the “Executioner’s Street” was part of a defensive complex reaching 51 meters in length. The street is headed by a small white executioner house called “kata”. Nowadays, there is a tea and spices shop here.

Walking along Kadaň, the historical part, visit its museums. The city museum in the building of the former Franciscan monastery, located next to the central square in another webcam, prividing by Baltic Live Cam tells about the history of Kadaň. Museum guests are given the opportunity to get acquainted with the past of Kadaň in live camera, to learn the history of the monastery, to get into the archaeological and mineralogical exhibition halls.

The most important and oldest religious building of Kadaň, is the Church of St. John the Baptist of the 12th century, which also fell into the lens of another online camera. Currently, restored after many cataclysms church works in full mode. Parishioners enjoy the vaults of the temple, decorated with paintings of the late Baroque era with neoclassical elements.
