Burgplatz

In this webcam you can see the historical center – city square of Burgplatz, located in the German city of Düsseldorf. As well shown online, Burgplatz is situated on the Rhine River.
In the southern part of the square in the live broadcast provided by Baltic Live Cam there is another no less famous Düsseldorf square – Market Square or Marktplaz, where there is also a webcam.

From May 10, 1995 Burgplatz where the online stream is conducted from, is included in the list of protected historical and architectural monuments.

In the webcam you can also see the castle tower (Schlossturm), and in the background there is the tower of the Saint Lambert’s Basilica (der Basilika St. Lambertus). The Rhein River and the Oberkasseler Brücke Bridge, the longest bridge in Düsseldorf, are easily visible on the left.

It is curious, but the St. Lambert’s Church spire is not straight at all, it is slightly curved. Such a “defect” has been turned into an advantage. Nowadays, this builders’ mistake is a highlight of Düsseldorf architecture. Besides the fact the St. Lambert Basilica, shown online, is the main Catholic Church, it is also the oldest religious building in the city.

Düsseldorf

The city of Düsseldorf, which city square is shown online by a webcam, is a large political and business center, the capital of the most densely populated German federal state of North Rhine – Westphalia.

The center of Dusseldorf is concentrated in its oldest part called Altstadt (Old Town) with a lot of historical attractions. Also in the center there are more than 260 bars and restaurants, shops and boutiques. In addition, there are many ancient restaurants and cafes, serving the famous Altbier beer. The most popular breweries in Düsseldorf are: Im Fuchschen, Zum Uerige, Zum Schiffchen, Zum Schlussel, Im Goldenen Ring.

Besides the medieval architectural buildings, next to Altstadt there are the Museum of Modern Art of North Rhine-Westphalia Art Collection, the Kunstpalast Palace of Art and the Düsseldorf Film museum (Filmmuseum Duesseldorf).

On distance of 10 kilometers from Düsseldorf, which square is visible in the online camera, there is the Neanderthal Valley with an informative and fun Neanderthal Museum.

For families with children we recommend to pay a visit the “Aqua Zoo” Water Zoo with tropic and arctic pavilions and 80 giant aquariums inhabited by a wide variety of underwater inhabitants.

The largest ceramics collection with ancient eras samples is gathered at the Etienne Museum.

Not far from the Rhine River embankment, which falls into the lens of this online live camera, there is European monarchs’ famous residence of Benrath Palace with a beautiful park.

Climate
