Our interesting live broadcast is from the famous Azoguejo Square (Plaza de Azoguejo). The aqueduct, which is perfectly visible on the web camera is one of the most famous monuments of Segovia, as well as the most significant monument of the Roman era. The design with 167 arches, perfectly broadcast in an online webcam, has more than 20,000 granite slabs, not fastened with any special cementing agent. The length of the structure is 818 meters.
The aqueduct in the Azoguejo square was built to provide water to the city located on a high hill. In the era of the Roman Empire, there were three highest arches signs of bronze with the names of the creators. Currently, two of them have retained their drawings. On one of the arches there is the image of Hercules of Egypt, who is considered the founder of the city of Segovia, the second – Virgin of Fuencisla (the patroness of the city) and the St. Stephen image.
In 1884 a beautiful historical building was recognized as a monument of national heritage. A bit later, in 1985, the Aqueduct received the status of World Heritage by UNESCO.
Segovia is an ancient Spanish city, founded by the Romans. Despite its small size, Segovia managed to concentrate a huge number of historical monuments. Almost all entire part of the old city is a large museum under the protection of UNESCO.
In addition to the Roman aqueduct with our live webcam, the most beautiful and popular of all Spanish castles is the Alcazar castle, located directly on the rock. This is a chic building in the late Gothic style. The view that opens from the castle towers is particularly beautiful: Castilian villages, hills, Guadarrama Mountains.
Besides the castle and the Azoguejo Square with its magnificent aqueduct, which is perfectly demonstrated by our live webcam, there are two beautiful monasteries in Segovia: Santa Cruz la Real, founded in the 13th century, and El- Parral (15th century).
