Crantock Beach

This webcam is located on Cape West Pentire, overlooking Crantock Beach, just a 15-minute drive from Newquay. In 2013, the beach in the online camera was recognized as the best beach on the coast, and in 2014 – the best beach in the UK according to the Sunday Times.

Locals and live streamed resort guests often like to walk along the South West Coast Path, enjoying the stunning Cornish nature and watching wildlife, including seals.

The Crantock coastline you see in live camera is a vast expanse of golden sands surrounded by dunes, between Cape Pentire and West Pentire to the west and the Gannel River to the east.

In the southern part of Crantock Beach in the online camera there are high cliffs that provide shelter from the wind. To the north flows the mouth of the Gunnel River, greatly reduced in comparison with its heyday, when it had a shipping port.

Most of the beach is surrounded by high sand dunes that go deep into a considerable distance, forming an area known as Rushy Green. Crossed by paths, these grassy dunes are also an important habitat for wildlife.

Toward the western end of Crantock Beach online, there is a large gap in the rocks with a cave known as Piper’s Hole. The steep cliffs here are a haven for seabirds, and at low tide you can explore the cave itself with over 100 years of carvings.

The beach in the web camera is popular among lovers of swimming, snorkeling, surfing and windsurfing. You can rent boards and canoes. Sometimes dolphins appear in coastal waters.

Crantock Beach shown online is owned and protected by the National Trust.

The best beaches in Cornwall

Porthcurno Beach

Porthcurno Beach, which, like Crantock Beach, is located in Cornwall, where the live stream comes from, is a little wild, but very exciting. This is a rather steep place where it is nice to relax after a hard day in the summer. The beach is covered with golden sand. At one end of the coast lie the ruins of an Iron Age castle, and at the other stands the Minack Theatre.

Harlyn Bay Beach

Harlyn Beach is located near the bay of the same name. This is a truly cosmic place: a large empty open plain. It is very comfortable here to run, fly a kite, play football. This beach is usually quite windy.

Mawgan Porth Beach

This beach is a rocky coastline. The coast is ideal for hunting crabs and other sea creatures hiding in small pools. The beach is located next to a small village.

Kynance Cove

Kynance Cove Beach has white sand and crystal clear waters. And the caves, boulders and rock formations nearby are simply breathtaking.

Fistral Beach

Fistral is one of the most popular and largest beaches in the UK. There are surf schools here. And coastal waves beckon them to conquer.
