The modern building of the town hall of Jelenia Gora in the live broadcast, was built in the 18th century. But in the cellar of the building there are the remains of the old town hall, dated to the 14th century.
At the beginning of the 20th century, apartment buildings near the Town Hall in an online camera adjoined it, creating the so-called “seven houses”. In such an “expanded” form, the city hall shown in the webcam has survived to the present day.
A beautiful two-story building, displayed in a webcam, is crowned with an onion dome tower, clock and a gallery. Above the southern entrance there is an inscription in Latin: “The city was built by Bolesław Wrymouth in 1108.” When visiting the town hall, admire Ernst Rülk sculptures that adorn the balustrade and low relief in the conference room.
Another worthy mention of ancient times is the medieval well, discovered during the last reconstruction.
For centuries, the town hall of Jelenia Gora, perfectly shown in the online live camera, has performed many functions. First of all, it was a building for the city authorities and a work place for the city council. However, it also housed other important institutions: court, archive and the treasury. Today in the Town Hall there are the City Council and the civil registry office.
