Cadiz

Cadiz is a port city and the capital of the province of the same name, from where this live broadcast comes.

Within the city limits, in the northern part of the Old Town, there is the smallest beach in Cadiz – Playa de la Caleta. On both sides it is surrounded by defensive bastions. It was from this coast that Christopher Columbus went on an expedition.

Clean and wide sandy beaches lie on the outskirts of the Old Town: Santa Maria del Mar, Victoria and Cortadura.

Founded by Phoenician sailors over 3000 years ago, Cadiz, where the webcam is located, has preserved the ancient stone forts that now surround the historic city center. The forts of San Sebastian and Santa Catalina were built to protect Cadiz in 1596 and are open to tourists today.

On Mina Square in the city with this online broadcast you can get acquainted with the exhibitions of the Archaeological Museum. Among its exhibits, two ancient Phoenician sarcophagi stand out. In 1980, the ruins of a Roman theatre, built 2,000 years ago, were discovered in Cadiz, where the broadcast is from.

From the height of the Cathedral you can see the panorama of the city. It is pleasant to stroll through the small park “Alameda de Apodaca”, to visit the San Antonio square and the Baroque church of San Felipe Neri.

In the Torre Tavira tower, next to the Central Market, there is a tower with a camera obscura. About 160 such towers were erected, but Tavira is the tallest of them.

One of the modern attractions of Cadiz, whose beach is shown by a web camera, is a huge pylon 158 m high, similar to the Eiffel Tower. They run along the main street past the beach of Cadiz.
