Queen Isabella Causeway
Live camera is aimed at Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway, located along State Highway 100, in Port Isabel, southern Cameron County, Texas. The highway, in live broadcast, crosses the Madre Lagoon (Laguna Madre) and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. The road in the webcam, designed in 1971 and built in 1974, connects Port Isabel with South Padre Island. The total length of the memorial road is almost 4 km, width – 21 meters.
The Queen Isabella Causeway, which is perfectly visible in the online camera, is a concrete bridge with support beams and a main span of steel cantilever beams. The bridge in live camera is the second longest in Texas, stretching across Laguna Madre. It is named after Queen Isabella of Castile.
Port Isabel
Port Isabel with this web camera, is a city in Cameron County, Texas, USA. Located on the western side of the southern tip of Laguna Madre, at the mouth of the Gulf of Mexico. It is part of the Brownsville–Harlingen–Raymondville and the Matamoros–Brownsville metropolitan areas.
Port Isabel, where there is a live stream from, founded as a post-Mexican War of Independence city, became an important cotton export port prior to the American Civil War.
In September 1967, Hurricane Beulah caused significant damage to much of the city. And on July 23, 2008, Hurricane Dolly (Category 2 hurricane) also caused a lot of trouble.
