This webcam shows Piazza del Fauno or Piazza Giovanni Carli square, located in the Italian city of Asiago. In the center of Del Fauno Square online, there is the Faun Fountain, which falls into the lens of an online camera. It was erected in 1927-1928. The octagonal base of the fountain is made of red Asiago marble, with beautiful sculptures on the sides.

Piazza Giovanni Carli, where the live broadcast comes from, is surrounded by shops, cafes and bars. Here in webcam stands the Palazzo Municipale (Palazzo Podestarile) building of red and white marble, where the city hall works. Inside you can admire the beautifully decorated rooms: Murano glass chandeliers, mosaics and statues. In the Council Hall (Sala Consiliare or Sala dei Quadri) there are 12 wooden bas-reliefs made by the local artist Giovanni Fort Tanasio, representing 12 months and telling about what is produced every month in the Altopiano region.

Asiago

The city of Asiago, where the online stream is conducted from, is an important center of largest plateau in Italy. This is a large green valley among the Veneto Mountains with peaks reaching 2350 meters. Here are 7 other communes: Conco, Enego, Fodza, Gallio, Lusiana, Roana and Rotzo. The center of Asiago in the web camera, is located at an altitude of 1001 meters above sea level.

Interesting fact: here is the country house of the famous Italian singer Adriano Celentano.

The ancient city, the area of which the online camera is aimed at, stores well-preserved historical sights, such as the Cathedral of Saint Matthew (Il Duomo di San Matteo), the patron saint of Asiago, located opposite the city hall. The modern cathedral of red marble in the classicism style is a building of 1918-1926, built on the site of an old ruined church. The facade and stairs of the temple were designed by the architect Vincenzo Bonato. The statue of St. Matteo online, which is located on the facade, was made by the sculptor Pallante Pesavento. On one side of the cathedral there is a stone bell tower with 6 bronze bells.

The interior of St. Matteo temple you see in live camera, is decorated with a lot of amazing works of art. The most valuable of them are: “La Vergine Santissima fra S. Matteo e S. Giovanni” Francesco da Ponte il Vecchio and “S. Antonio Abate fra S. Giustina, S. Lucia e S. Rocco da un lato, e S. Vito e S. Modesto dall’altro ”Francesco da Ponte il Giovane.

Another important attraction and a true symbol of Asiago, whose center is shown by a live camera, is the Sacrario Militare Military Sanctuary, appeared on July 17, 1938 on a hill near the city. The building is a large tetrahedral arch. In this unique place, the remains of Italian and Austro-Hungarian soldiers who died during the First World War found peace. There is a museum where you can get acquainted with the events of the war, studying documents and photographs.

The name of the city of Asiago, which square this webcam is directed to, has gained popularity among cheese lovers. If you like cheese, then you definitely need to visit Caseificio Pennar cheese factory. Also, the cheese products of the Rigoni family are very famous.
