In front of you in a live broadcast there is Geologists Square, located in the city of Apatity. The area you see in this webcam got its name in honor of geologists made a great contribution to the scientific and industrial development of the city.
The city of Apatity, where the online stream is conducted from, is located beyond the Arctic Circle, on the banks of the Belaya River, among the Khibiny Mountains near Lake Imandra. It is the second largest city in the Murmansk region after Murmansk. Apatity got the city status in 1966.
The city, which area you see in the webcam, is located on a flat plain with the highest point of “Sparrow Mountain”. One side of the city is closed by the Khibiny Mountains, the other – the open one is located on the side of Lake Imandra.

In the Tik-Guba village near Apatity, on the banks of the Imandra there is a tourist base and beach. Nearby the city there is a botanical natural monument “Cedars and Larches Khibin.” Also, guests are attracted by the natural-historical regional state monument of “Yokostrovskoye Kintische”. Expedition tours are organized to this legendary Sami graveyard.
