Historical monuments of the mentioned era today lead the architecture of Brixen: the cathedral and the bishop’s palace.
For the first time the city that you see on the live webcam was mentioned in 901. After the cathedral was completely constructed in 992, the bishops of the Roman municipality of Sabion moved to Brixen. Began the foundation of the Brixen bishopric, which in 1179 became an independent principality. Since 1803, Brixen in the online camera belonged to the Austrian Empire, and only in 1919, under the Treaty of Saint-Germain, was transferred to Italy, where it was named Bressanone.
The most important city attraction is the Cathedral, which was designed in the 10th century. The temple was rebuilt twice: in the 13th century and in 1745-1754. The ceiling of the nave of the religious building is decorated with the fresco “Adoration of the Lamb” by Paul Troger.
Besides the cathedral, the 13th century bishop’s palace (Hofburg) is of great interest. This is one of the largest palaces in South Tyrol witth the web camera. Now the palace houses a museum with a Christ manger, created by order of Bishop Karl Franz Lodron.
Another important attraction is the 11th century Saint Michael Church. In the 15th century, it was rebuilt.

It is considered one of the largest in the province of South Tyrol online. Around 1500, the citadel was rebuilt and expanded by the Wolkenstein family, whose descendants still own it today. The frescoes found in 1972 are of great interest in the fortress. They depict the legend of Ivaina – the hero of the medieval novel, the knight of the Round Table of King Arthur.
Tasso Castle (Castel Tasso) is located in the Eisac Valley. It is known for its “Green Hall”, which houses Gothic paintings and a collection of armor. It is also interesting to see the bathroom, kitchen and sleeping quarters, made in the style of the Middle Ages.
