Church of the Nativity
The Church of the Nativity of Christ in this webcam is the spiritual center of the city of Nizhnevartovsk. The huge and modern domed temple, shown in the live broadcast, is made of red brick. As can be clearly seen in real time, there is a well-groomed and beautiful area around the religious building, there is a playground also. In winter, a nativity scene and a Christmas tree appear on temple’s territory.
Located in the old part of the city, the Church of the Nativity of Christ in the webcam is clearly visible from afar, attracting the eyes with the splendor of its architecture with five golden domes. The temple in the live stream is a whole ensemble. There is an Orthodox general education gymnasium, Sunday school, parable house, bell tower, baptismal school.
In the temple, presented in the webcam, services are constantly held, and the Sunday School, together with a charitable organization, is engaged in the rehabilitation of those who have left prison.
History of the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in Nizhnevartovsk
On July 7, 1989, the Cross was installed on the site of the future temple online. Almost 100 years later, on June 25, 1994, the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II held a prayer service at the site of the temple under construction.
On December 27, 1997, the first divine service was held in the erected church in the web camera, and on July 4, 1999, the temple was consecrated. August 13, 2001 – Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II performed a prayer service in the church.
The right side altar in the church shown in the online camera was consecrated in honor of the icon of the Mother of God of Kaluga, and the left one – the New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia. The lower temple is in honor of the Cathedral of the Prophet John the Baptist.
On March 8, 2015, having received the blessing of His Eminence Paul, Metropolitan of Khanty-Mansiysk and Surgut, containers for storing relics appeared in the Church of the Nativity of Christ in a live broadcast. They contain the relics of St. Paul, Metropolitan of Tobolsk, Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon, Martyr Alexander of Rome, St. Gabriel of Athonite, St. Kuksha of Odessa, St. Arefa of Verkhoturye, St. Elijah of Verkhoturye, Righteous Simeon of Verkhoturye. The shrine is permanently located in the upper temple.
Today, in the Church of the Nativity of Christ, which you see on the live webcam, services are held every day. In the church are: Orthodox general education gymnasium, Sunday school for children, Sunday school for adults, sisterhood in honor of Saints Cosmas and Damian, youth movement Ugra Molodaya Pravoslavnaya, collaborating with the charity organization “Nadezhda”.
